The territory of the Upper Valdarno occupies the Arno valley upstream of Florence, between the Val di Chiana, the Val di Sieve, the Chianti mountains and the Pratomagno, including the municipalities of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, Reggello, Rignano sull’Arno , Pontassieve, Castelfranco Piandiscò, San Giovanni Valdarno, Montevarchi, Cavriglia, Terranuova Bracciolini, Bucine, Loro Ciuffenna, Rufina, Pelago and Londa. From an administrative point of view, these municipalities belong to the province of Arezzo and the metropolitan city of Florence, while from a production point of view, they are classified by the Tuscany Region as an industrial district of hides, leather and footwear1, due to the strong specialization in these sectors manufacturers.
It is an area characterized by a differentiated and dynamic economic fabric, also favored by a strategic position in the center of the region, well connected to both the Florentine area and those of Arezzo and Siena. (…)
