Transportation: the territory, households, businesses, the environment

Speakers P. Lattarulo e L. Piccini

Life conference

First meeting of the interuniversity and IRPET research group | P. Lattarulo and L. Piccini speak.

The first meeting of the inter-university research group (Faculty of Architecture, Engineering, Sociology, Political Science, Economics of the University of Florence) and IRPET was held:

IDEATES Integrated Analysis of Economic, Technological and Social factors for the Energy efficiency of the housing and vehicle Stock
In GRINS – Growing Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable – low carbon policies and socio-economic sustainability (Partenariato esteso PNRR), Spoke 6 – Wp1

The project is briefly outlined below:

Emissions of greenhouse gases and particulate pollutants related to the residential sector and private mobility still account for a significant share of total emissions, and the transport sector is the one that struggles the most to embark on a reduction path. IDEATES aims to contribute to this challenge with an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, in the economic, technological, sociological and urban planning perspective applied to the case of the Tuscany Region. It will look, therefore, at the issue of private mobility from an equity and sustainability perspective from different points of view starting with the urban layout more favorable to sustainable mobility choices; effective and less costly public connection modes for areas of weak demand; technological innovation as a strategy toward sustainability and emission resolution; and individual propensities toward the adoption of behaviors and choices favorable to modal balance. With reference to appropriate information systems, the elasticity of behavior will be analyzed and the social cost system of mobility will be reconstructed. Consideration of all these elements makes it possible to identify the most vulnerable segments of society (transportation poverty) and to hypothesize intervention policies that move in the direction of decarbonization and greater livability of urban spaces without leaving anyone behind.

Patrizia Lattarulo and Leonardo Piccini introduced the meeting with an overview of:
